Feminist Statement on the Naming and Abolition of FGM
Sep 08, 2013

On August 28, 2013, the Huffington Post hosted a Feminist Statement on the Naming and Abolition of FGM by Huff Post journalist Hilary Burrage with Tobe Levin and assisted by Paula Ferrari, Tomi Adeaga, Lucy Mashua, Linda Weil-Curiel, Vera Lustig and Julie Barton to address the global desire to stop female genital mutilation. Nobel Laureate in Literature 2004 Elfriede Jelinek signed on early; so did Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté, Executive Director of the Inter-African Committee that edits the International Scientific Journal on Female Genital Mutilation at the University of Addis Ababa. In addition, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand tweeted her support for our campaign and then ‚favorited‘ the response … Signatories are welcome!
